Your Skin Treatment Choices Explained

Many of us will suffer from an array of skin problems as we get older, so it’s good to know that you don’t have to surrender to them without a fight. As someone who has never had experience of any skin treatments it can be confusing to know exactly what treatments do what, and more importantly what you might benefit from. In order to make things a little easier for you, here are the most common skin problems and the skin treatments that can solve the problem.

Varicose Veins

As we get older some of us will suffer from the appearance of small varicose veins, as well as thread and spider veins usually found around the thighs, knees, ankles, and, calves. These blood vessels are usually red or blue in appearance that appear below to surface, in extreme cases it may cover a vast area of skin. The problem with varicose veins is that they can make you feel self-conscious and that can have a huge effect on your confidence. Treatment for varicose veins is called Sclerotherapy; it is a minimally invasive treatment that includes a mild solution being injected into the veins, this causes them to collapse and disappear. Although the treatment doesn’t prevent new veins forming it does reduce the appearance of varicose veins that have already formed.

Loss of Elasticity: Wrinkles & Lines

Unfortunately, this is a problem that everyone faces but you don’t have to endure it and let it damage your confidence – leading to stress and more wrinkles! There are many treatments available to combat these common problems that don’t involve invasive surgery such as; Dermal Fillers, Muscle Relaxant treatment, and Sculptra. Each treatment will reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, dermal fillers are used to boost the elasticity of your skin allowing you to feel more at home in your skin.

Dull, Lifeless Skin

Youthful skin often has a glow that makes you feel radiant; unfortunately this can fade with age or because of common skin problems suffered such as acne. The Dermaroller treatment is designed to produce clear, bright and most importantly healthy skin. This treatment is beneficial for other skin problems such as stretch marks and scars. This procedure is common among celebrities as it leaves you with skin that appears much more youthful.

Don’t let skin problems define you and don’t let them worry your life. At Fiona Clossick, we offer a range of non-invasive solutions to common skin aging problems at our skin clinic in Birmingham so that you can benefit from healthy skin.

Surprising Uses for Wrinkle Removing Treatment

You perhaps already know that wrinkle removing treatment can be used to prevent facial muscles from contracting and causing skin to wrinkle. Relatively unheard of in the beauty industry a decade ago, has burst into our lives and is now more popular than traditional face lifts and other youth generating procedures.  Injected into the faces of participants, wrinkle removing treatment can be extremely effective at smoothing away telltale age lines, furrowed brows and crow’s feet.  But did you know that this treatment can be used to treat other problems too?  Some of them might shock you.

MIGRAINES

Recently, wrinkle removing treatment has become an instrument to help relieve migraine headaches and associated neck muscle pain. It has proven to be very effective in relieving pain from muscle sources. It is very important to distinguish the source of pain since wrinkle removing treatment works on muscles; this mechanism is why this treatment reduces wrinkles. Wrinkle treatment can be used in the differentiation of pain sources. If it does not give some relief, the source of pain is most likely not the muscles. Many patients seeking wrinkle treatment for wrinkle reduction report elimination or reduction of migraine headaches as an added bonus.

BLADDER PROBLEMS

An overactive bladder can also be a problem for many. Coughing or sneezing can bring about incontinence or leakage for sufferers, and this can stop them from leading a normal life.  When wrinkle removing treatment is injected into the walls of the bladder, it can cause the bladder muscle to relax.  Sudden contractions therefore become a thing of the past.  The storage capacity of the bladder is also increased, often resulting in less trips to the toilet.

EXTREME SWEATING

This is also used for extreme sweating for focal hyperhidrosis of the axilla, groin, forehead and inguinal crease. Wrinkle removing treatment works to inhibit the release of acetylcholine at the nerve synapse. The longevity of This treatment depends on the regenerative capacity of the nerve synapse. In most cases, wrinkle removing treatment will last about 4 to 6 months for hyperhidrosis.

BREAST LIFT

If you do not want to go under the scalpel but have an important social engagement where you need to look your best, a breast lift could do the trick.  Injected into the bust line, it can relax the pectoral muscles that are often responsible for sagging breasts, causing the breasts to lift.  Of course, this is only a temporary solution, but ideal if you are going on holiday or to a special event.

GUMMY SMILE

This is shown as a smile that shows too much gum tissue. This usually is the result of the lip rising too high when smiling. Injecting wrinkle removing treatment into the upper lip weakens the retractor muscles of the lip, so that it will not raise as high and your smile will seem better-balanced.

In summary, wrinkle removing treatment gives patients and doctors a new world of possible treatments that can lead to better lives for all of us. Therefore, if you are looking for wrinkle removing treatment injections in Birmingham, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Autumn Skincare Tips

Autumn is the time of the year when everyone looks forward to outdoor activities and trips. The slight dip in temperature provides much needed relief from the hot weather before you lock yourself up at home during the winter. However, the dry and chilly air can pose several challenges for your skin. Skin irritation, age spots, eczema and sun-damaged skin are the major concerns in the autumn season. As a result, with a change in weather, it is also necessary to make a suitable change in your skin care regime and save your skin from damage.

Get Healthy

If you have heard it once, you have heard it a thousand times; attractiveness starts on the inside. Staying physically active and eating healthy is the best way to glow throughout the colder months (even if all you want to do is curl up in bed and hibernate). Bundle up and go for a run through your local park, or if you cannot face the biting cold, nip to the nearest gym to supercharge your body and skin. When it comes to eating throughout the day do not starve yourself with diets. Eat regular healthy meals that are rich in omega -3 fatty acids (fish, tofu) and vitamins A, C, D (cheese, eggs, broccoli, milk, almonds). And do not forget to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.

Get Rid of Dull Skin

Hot summer weather can exhaust your skin, so it is crucial to get rid of dead skin cells and reveal new, healthier-looking skin. The best way to do that is to exfoliate. In fact, exfoliation is vital in every season, as it prepares the skin to better absorb applied skincare products. You can enjoy two types of exfoliating products today; those with tiny hard participles that we know as facial scrubs, and also chemically active ones. Our chemical skin peel treatments in Birmingham usually contain active agents such as alpha hydroxyl acids or retinol, and they cause the upper layers of dead skin to gently peel away and reveal younger, more beautiful skin.

Use a Hydrating Facial Mask

Facial masks have been used since ancient times, especially in ancient Rome, Egypt and Greece because of their health benefits for the skin. There is a huge variety of facial mask ingredients found on the market today to suit everyone’s preferences. Buy your facial mask, get it done at a professional cosmetic salon or prepare it yourself from natural ingredients. Remember that by using a moisturizing facial mask, you cleanse your skin deep below the surface. This deep cleanse helps reduce dead skin cells and excess oils that can cause bacteria build-up. With fewer bacteria, your skin can remain clear of any unsightly blemishes or pimples.

Do Not Forget the Sun

While the weather is colder, it is easy to forget about the sun, but it can still damage your skin. If you are going to be spending your time enjoying outdoor activities then make sure that you protect your skin with at least sun cream. You could even try a foundation with added sun protection and cover two bases at once.

In summary, autumn is a time of transition, and is the best time to correct any summer damage and prepare your skin for winter.  So use these tips, and help make your skin gorgeous.

Summer Skin Care

The sun is shining and thankfully, in the UK this year we have saw some of the best weather we have ever had! However, as most of you know, sun is damaging and drying for our skin so it is time you switched up your skin care regime to ensure that you have healthy, glowing skin throughout the summer months.

Prepare Your Skin

After a few hard winter months, rich moisturisers and night creams, your skin will be altering to the sun and such skincare will have a negative effect on your skin, unlike the positive effect it had over winter. Prepare your skin with a cleansing facial or try one of our skin peel treatments to remove impurities, any signs of aging and hyperpigmentation so your skin will look fresh, younger and will be ready for the summer months.

Change Your Moisturiser

Thick moisturising creams will have seen you through the summer months, but moving into summer as your skin changes with the heat, thicker creams will cause your skin to break out and become oily. Change to a lighter formula that will not clog your pores and always remember, if you are prone to having oily skin, use an oil-balancing product to prevent excess production of oil. If you have excess production of oil, you will be more prone to breakouts.

SPF is ESSENTIAL

Everyone wants a glowing tan through the summer months, which is fine, but consider the effect it has on your skin. Over exposure to UV rays from the sun causes wrinkles and aging of the skin, which is what you will want to avoid. A good quality SPF 15 or plus will protect your skin from the harmful UV rays. Applying an SPF in the morning is not enough to protect your skin therefore it must be reapplied throughout the day until the sun goes down. If it is cloudy outside, you should still be applying an SPF as despite the clouds, the UV rays are still having an effect.

Hydration is Key

The key to a glowing complexion is hydration. Keeping your skin hydrated will allow your skin to look fuller and healthy, with less appearance of wrinkles. A hydrating spray for the skin before moisturising and throughout the day will re-inject the moisture your skin craves. Drinking your recommended daily amount of water will also have a positive effect on your skin, not just for the hydration of your body. In the summer months, you should be increasing your daily intake of water to ensure your body is hydrated correctly, as water is lost more readily.

These are only a few tips on keeping your skin and body in perfect condition throughout summer. If you are going abroad these tips are essential for that picture perfect complexion you seek!

Beauty Sleep

A study in America has shown the true benefits of ‘beauty sleep’. Sleep has long been known to have restorative effects on the body, but the healing qualities it has on the skin have recently been further discovered. Sleeping allows the body to increase its production of collagen, helping retain water, which contributes to maintaining healthy skin.

Equally, sleeping in the dark also has positive effects on the skin, namely that as natural and artificial light eventually begins to damage and dry out our skin, the lack of light protects it and allows it to replenish. As our bodies are actually conditioned to sleep in the dark, we get a better night’s sleep when there is no light present, and this allows our skin to recover at a much better rate.

There’s hope for you fidgeters out there too, as further investigation has proven that sleeping for long periods on one side adds extra pressure on the face against the pillow. By turning and evenly distributing your weight throughout the night, you avoid putting too much pressure on any one part of the body in particular, and therefore stops wrinkles forming so readily.

Naturally, the largest aspect is how much sleep we get per night. Six hours is deemed adequate for adults as this is the amount of time our body needs to complete five REM cycles. The four aspects of one entire sleep cycle encompass a drowsy, relaxed state that leads into a deeper sleep with elements of still feeling awake. Once this is completed you will drop into a deep sleep where you body falls into its lowest amount of activity, before a brief return to second stage, and finally dream sleep, also known as REM sleep or Delta sleep.

To help complement your body’s natural recovery process in sleep, here at Fiona Clossick Facial Aesthetics we specialise in providing holistic beauty treatments to keep you looking radiant throughout the day. Our wrinkle treatment treatments in Birmingham are highly effective at smoothing out the dynamic facial lines that can form if our face becomes subjected to constant and repeated pressure like in sleep.

PLUMP UP THE VOLUME

Botox Treatment Birmingham, Fiona Clossick

We all want scrumptious skin; however, as we get older, wrinkles do appear.
There are lots of temporary anti-ageing products on the market, today, but just like celebrities, everyday people are now electing to apply a more permanent solution to wrinkles. Wrinkle treatment, has become a household name. There are 5 well known brands of wrinkle treatment in the UK and they are all highly-effective. It has been reported that 3 out of every 10 women have considered wrinkle treatment as well as 1 in every 20 men!
The effects of this treatment can last between 3 and 5 months and take 5-7 days, from the date of treatment, to become apparent. It can also be used for people who suffer from excess perspiration in the facial area; the injections relax the muscles the patient doesn’t sweat as heavily.
The expressed consensus opinion amongst Fiona Aesthetics wrinkle treatment patients is that have re-gained their self-confidence.
It’s true that social groups, including women of a certain age can suffer from reduced confidence in their appearance. Smokers can also become self conscious of wrinkles from a younger age, and now even teenagers are beginning to become more concerned about facial imperfection. It has experienced major growth amongst a diverse cross-section of British society in the past decade.
Most celebrities now choose to complement their wrinkle treatment with dermal filler injections because, just like the rest of your body, as you get older, your skin starts to sag, loses elasticity and develops wrinkles, especially in the areas around your facial features.
Dermal fillers restore the plumpness to your lips, giving them a smoother appearance. Dermal fillers can also be used for “crows’ feet”, around the eye area, as well as for non-surgical neck and face lifts. Some women may experience a “goose neck” as they get older, your neck area can be returned to its original shape with dermal fillers.
All of the above will improve your skin’s hydration and suppleness. The results breathe new life into your skin, making it vibrant and full of volume.
